Visiting a hilltribe village is a special experience, but it may be a little different from what you're used to. There are a few “roadbumps” that may make it too unpleasant or difficult for you to go. Make sure you think the following things through first before signing up….
Visiting a hilltribe village requires…
• Walking up steep hills and for long distances
• Going to the bathroom in the woods, instead of in a toilet
• Washing with cold water or not at all
• Eating a lot of rice and other traditional Thai food for all three meals
• Living without electricity and email
• Tolerating the company of ants, bugs, lizards or snakes
• Being surrounded by pigs, chickens and roosters that may wake you early in the morning
• Sleeping on the floor with many other people
Living standards in the villages are different from the ones of your daily life. But if you come with an open mind, it will be more than possible to enjoy your new surroundings.
